A figure rises. Below, the forms are ordered, dense with striped pattern, light accumulating in disciplined waves. Then something loosens. The white trace at center moves differently from everything around it, curving with a freedom the rest of the image hasn't earned yet. This is how memory actually works: structured at the base, unraveling toward the top into something truer than fact.

Because I Am the Memory I Want. Not the memory I have, not the one that arrives uninvited. The one I choose to become. Kathryn Weill's camera moved through this light with that kind of intention, coaxing from darkness a self that is authored rather than merely inherited. The amber thread running through the center is the detail that changes everything: warmth inside all that black and white severity, color surviving where color had no business surviving. That is the self we build from chosen memory. Precise where it must be. Warm where it matters. Rising always, even when the form hasn't quite decided what it's rising toward.
