Deep blue fills more of this frame than light does. That is the first thing to sit with: the vast cobalt field above, atmospheric and still, against which the luminous bands below move with comparative urgency. Iridescence is a precise optical phenomenon, the way certain surfaces shift color as viewing angle changes, never quite the same blue twice. These bands carry that quality, their edges catching something that isn't quite violet, isn't quite cyan, but moves between them as the eye travels across the frame.
Quick is an old word. It once meant alive before it meant fast, and both meanings belong here. These sapphire bands pulse with the kind of motion that suggests an interior source rather than external force, light generating its own momentum across the lower third of the frame. The red threads running beneath them introduce warmth into all that cool blue depth, the way a living thing carries heat inside its most composed exterior. Kathryn Weill's camera held steady above while tracing these bands below, capturing the relationship between vast stillness and precise movement that defines certain presences we are fortunate enough to encounter: deep, iridescent, irreducibly alive.
